Some school districts offer partial or full reimbursement for professional development or academic coursework completed. Be sure to check with the Human Resources representative for your school or district to determine if this might be an option for you.

College of Education and Health Professions Scholarship

  • Application opens each Jan. 1 and is due Feb. 15
  • Awarded to: undergraduate and graduate students; applicants must complete the General Scholarship Application and COEHP Conditional Scholarship Application in the AcademicWorks system

The National Education Foundation

  • Amount: $2,000 - $5,000
  • Awarded to individuals to participate in high-quality professional development

Fund for Teachers

  • Amount: $5,000-plus
  • Awarded to teachers participating in needs specific professional development that will have a high impact for students

International Reading Association

  • Amount: Varies
  • Several grant options are available. See the link for details.

Fulbright Teachers for Global Classrooms Program (Fulbright TGC)

  • Amount: Skills development and travel
  • Professional development opportunity for U.S. elementary, middle, and high school teachers to develop skills for preparing students for a competitive global economy.
  • Applications open in December

Inspire Our Future Scholarship

  • Amount: $500
  • Awarded to new and seasoned teachers through their scholarship, which is designed to help pay for continuing education for teachers and other associated expenses.
  • Applications due April 1

Teacher-Leader Professional Learning Grant (K-12)

  • Amount: Chosen teachers get to travel on Lindblad Expedition’s voyages for field-based learning
  • Professional development opportunity for pre-K through 12th-grade educators.
  • Applications due Jan. 3

The McCarthey Dressman Education Foundation

  • Amount: Maximum amount is $10,000 a year for 3 years
  • Grant aims to increase the effectiveness of individual educators and small teams of teachers
  • Applications due Jan. 15 through April 15

Voya Unsung Heroes Grant

  • Amount: approximately $2,000 to each recipient
  • Each year, 100 finalists are selected to receive a $2,000 grant, payable to both the winning teacher and their school
  • Applications due April 30

Special Education--Personnel Development to Improve Services and Results for Children with Disabilities

NEA Foundation Learning and Leadership Grants

  • Amount: $2,000 for individuals and $5,000 for groups each year
  • Awarded to public educators looking to foster a supportive and collaborative group environment through activities such as summer institutes, conferences, or field research.
  • Applications due February 1
