Description

This seminar focuses on assessment and treatment processes related to childhood stuttering, emphasizing multidimensional practices that address the behavior of stuttering, as well as associated thoughts and feelings. Common assessment and treatment dilemmas also will be discussed. Information related to treatment will be organized around the idea that behavior change is cyclic, thus, the most effective treatment anticipates and acknowledges setbacks in the process of behavior change. The seminar will incorporate case studies for discussion. These emphasize key assessment and treatment scenarios and incorporate potential dilemmas encountered in everyday practice. Finally, special topics pertaining to school-age children and adolescents who stutter will be considered.
