Undergraduate Scholarships

National NSSLHA:

  • Undergraduate Scholarship
  • Application opens in October and is due December (2019)
  • Awarded to: CSD program sophomores (4 given at $500 each) and juniors (6 given at $1000 each); must be National NSSLHA member: must have minimum 3.25 cumulative GPA

Undergraduate or Graduate Scholarships

College of Education and Health Professions (COEHP) Scholarship

  • Application opens January 1st and is due February 15th
  • Awarded to: undergraduate and graduate CDIS students; applicants must complete the General Scholarship Application and COEHP Conditional Scholarship Application in the AcademicWorks system

American Association on Health and Disability (AAHD) Frederick J. Krause Scholarship on Health and Disability

  • Must be a student with a disability (as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act) who is enrolled in an undergraduate/graduate SLP program at an accredited university (among other select majors listed on application)
  • Must be at least a sophomore in college
  • If in an undergraduate program, must be enrolled full-time; if in a graduate program, must be enrolled at least part-time
  • Must be a U.S. citizen/legal resident
  • Preference given to applicant with community service/volunteer history
  • Amount: under $1000
  • Application deadline: Nov 15

Health Resources & Services Administration Scholarship for Disadvantaged Students

  • Must be from a disadvantaged background as defined by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident
  • Must be enrolled full-time in an accredited undergraduate or graduate speech pathology program (among other select health-related majors listed on application)
  • Amount: Varies
  • Application deadline: Dec 31

Indian Health Service Health Professions Scholarship

  • Must be a member of a federally-recognized American Indian or Alaska Native tribe
  • Must be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate health profession preparation program (including SLP)
  • Must have a 2.0 GPA
  • Must agree to fulfill a two-year service commitment to serve at an Indian health facility after graduation
  • Amount: varies
  • Application deadline: March 28

Karlind T. Moller Cleft/Craniofacial Scholarship for Speech Pathology/Audiology Students/ACPA

  • Must be an undergraduate or graduate student in an accredited SLP or audiology degree program
  • Must plan an undergraduate or graduate research project in cleft/craniofacial anomalies related to SLP
  • Amount: $500 and one-year student membership to ACPA
  • Application deadline: Oct 2nd

National Black Association for Speech- Language and Hearing Student Research Award

  • Endowed Scholarships available to General Graduate Student Scholarship Applicants (based on eligibility)
    • International Student Scholarship
      • Awarded to: students entering or enrolled in full-time master's and doctoral CSD degree programs; non-U.S. citizens; up to 3 given at $5000 each
    • Minority Student Scholarship
      • Awarded to: students entering or enrolled in full-time master's and doctoral CSD degree programs; members of a racial or ethnic minority group and are U.S. citizens; up to 3 given at $5000 each
    • NSSLHA Student Scholarship
      • Awarded to: students entering or enrolled in full-time master's and doctoral CSD degree programs; must be active National NSSLHA members; up to 3 given at $5000 each
    • Student with a Disability Scholarship
      • Awarded to: students entering or enrolled in full-time master's and doctoral CSD degree programs; 1 given at $5000 each

Arkansas Speech-Language Hearing Association (ArkSHA)

  • Betty Bass Scholarship
  • Awarded to students enrolled in a Communication Sciences and Disorders graduate program in the state of Arkansas. (Proof of enrollment required - Faculty Advisor or Program Director signature.)
  • The applicant must be an Arkansas resident who, at present, plans to work in-state after graduation
  • One scholarship, $1,000 awarded each year

National Association of Junior Auxiliaries (NAJA)

  • Amount: Varies
  • citizen Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Must be a permanent resident of a state with a Junior Auxiliary chapter (includes AL, AR, FL, LA, MS, MO, TN and TX)
  • Must be enrolled in a graduate program addressing special needs of children and youth (includes SLP)
  • Must plan to work with children after graduation
  • Application deadline: Feb 1
  • Must be a Masters/AuD level student or a Doctoral-level student pursuing research in speech-language pathology or audiology in a CAPCSD-member program
  • Amount: $3,000
  • Application deadline: Nov 1

EBS Healthcare Scholarship Program

  • Must be in your second year of graduate studies or entering a clinical fellowship in a U.S. SLP program
  • Must intend to practice as a clinician with pediatrics after graduation
  • Must provide two references
  • Must submit an essay
  • Amount: Varies

Charles A. Frueauff Foundation Scholarship

  • Must be enrolled in an accredited graduate SLP program
  • Must have a 3.25 GPA
  • Must demonstrate financial need
  • Amount: Varies
  • Application deadline: March 15

Sam and Millie Hilburn Scholarship/Scottish Rites Foundation

  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Must have a verified affiliation with a Masonic organization
  • Must be enrolled in a graduate program in child language disorders
  • Amount: $5000

Invo Healthcare/Progressus Therapy/National Black Association for Speech-Language-Hearing Scholarship

  • Must be enrolled in an ASHA-accredited master's program in Communication Sciences and Disorders (SLP)
  • Must submit an essay

AMBUCS Scholarship

  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Must be in your junior/senior year of an accredited speech-language pathology bachelor's degree program or in an accredited graduate program leading to a master's or doctoral degree in speech-language pathology
  • Must demonstrate financial need
  • Must demonstrate academic achievement
  • Amount: $500 - $6000
  • Application deadline: April 15

American Speech-Language-Hearing Association Student Ethics Essay Award

  • Must be enrolled full- or part-time in an undergraduate or graduate level CSD program in the US
  • Must submit essay on given topic
  • Amount: $250, $500 and $750
  • Application deadline: April 13

American Speech-Language-Hearing Association Students Preparing for Academic-Research Careers Award

  • Must have been accepted by/enrolled full- or part-time into an undergraduate CSD program, CAA-accredited master's degree in SLP program, or CAA-accredited entry-level clinical AuD program
  • Must be a national NSSLHA member
  • Amount: $1,000
  • Application deadline: April 15th

A Place for Mom Scholarship

  • Must be enrolled in an accredited undergraduate or graduate college/university in US or Canada
  • Must be studying SLP
  • Must submit a video addressing your future plans on working with seniors and how a senior has inspired you
  • Amount: $1,000
  • Application deadlines: March 30, June 30, Sept 30, January 15
  • Must be enrolled full-time in an ASHA-accredited undergraduate or graduate SLP program
  • Must be a member of NBASLH
  • Must submit a research paper on culturally and linguistically diverse populations
  • Amount: $1,000
  • Application deadline: March 1

Teachers-Teachers.Com Aspiring Educator Scholarship

  • Must be a second-semester junior or first-semester senior major in SLP (among other select majors), OR
  • Must be a second semester senior or entering a master's level program in SLP (among other select majors), OR
  • Must hold a bachelor's degree in teaching and have enrolled to take continuing education or start a Master's level program in SLP (among other select majors)
  • Amount: Varies

VOCES Bilingual Speech Pathology Scholarship

  • Must be an undergraduate student preparing to take the GRE
  • Must have earned/be about to earn undergraduate degree from U.S. accredited college/university
  • Must have a 3.0 GPA
  • Must have plans to enroll in a full-time graduate CSD or SLP program at an accredited US school
  • Must be a U.S. citizen/permanent resident
  • Must be a native/near-native Spanish speaker
  • Amount: GRE fee reimbursement (about $270), technical assistance with personal essay

Graduate

American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA)
ASHFoundation Graduate Scholarships:

  • Graduate Student General Scholarship
    • Application opens in 2019 (not sure what month) due in May
    • Awarded to: students entering or enrolled in full-time master's and doctoral CSD degree programs; 15 given at $5000 each

Autism Science Foundation Pre- and Postdoctoral Training Awards

  • Must be a graduate student, medical student or postdoctoral fellow in a program that relates to autism spectrum disorder
  • Special consideration given to studies with a focus on gender issues in ASD
  • Special consideration given to studies that involve a genetic subtype of autism or groups most likely to be diagnosed with ASD
  • Amount: $35,000
  • Application deadline: December 1st

Bilingual Therapies Graduate Scholarship

  • Must be enrolled in an ASHA-accredited graduate SLP program in the U.S.
  • Must have native or near-native proficiency in a second language
  • Must submit essay
  • Must have personal interview
  • Must agree to work for Bilingual Therapies full-time for one year after graduation
  • Amount: $2500
  • Application deadline: July 15 for fall, Nov. 15 for spring

Council of Academic Programs in Communication Sciences and Disorders Frances J. Laven Scholarship

  • Must be a CAPCSD member in good standing
  • Must be enrolled as a graduate student in a professional CAPCSD-member program (Masters-SLP, AuD or SLP-D)
  • Must have shown exemplary service to the community, university or greater discipline
  • Must submit a nomination letter from a faculty mentor
  • Amount: $5,000
  • Application deadline: Jan 5

Council of Academic Programs in Communication Sciences and Disorders Plural Publishing Scholarship

  • Must be a CAPCSD member in good standing
  • Amount: $1,000
  • Application deadline: March 1

National Black Association for Speech-Language and Hearing Scholarship for Future Business Owners

  • Must be currently enrolled in an ASHA-accredited master's program in SLP
  • Must plan to be present at the NBASLH convention
  • Must submit an introductory business plan/concept summary
  • Must submit a recommendation letter
  • Amount: $1500
  • Application deadline: March 1

Sertoma Communicative Disorders Scholarship Application

  • Must be a US citizen
  • Must be enrolled in an ASHA-accredited graduate SLP program in the US
  • Must have a 3.5 GPA cumulative for all undergraduate and graduate coursework
  • Must submit two letters of recommendation
  • Amount: $1,000
  • Application deadline: March 30th
